Surname1Questions Course Name: Course: Instructor: Institution: Date: Surname2 Question One A business continuity plan (BCP) is a system that ensures prevention of a system of business functionality by dealing with potential threats. The stages involved include analysis, solution design, implementation, testing and acceptance, and maintenance. The Business Impact stage includes the use of questionnaires and other survey methods to conduct a workshop and complete a business impact analysis (BIA). Review the questionnaires and do a follow-up with the information given. The solution design identifies resources required based on BIA and conducts a gap analysis determining the gaps between recovery needs and its current capabilities. The implementation stage involves selecting a recovery strategy and implementing it. Testing and acceptance involve developing a framework, writing a business continuity procedure and assemble a plan. It also needs a business to develop a testing exercise and conduct orientation exercises. The maintenance stage ensures constant updating of the BCP and incorporates test learned from testing. Question Two The SDLC model I will use is the spiral model. The spiral model has broken down its stages of development into small pieces making it realistic to use in the development of a brand application. It also involves the customer throughout each stage of development. Its systematic approach with iterative framework ensures changes can be made along the way. The SDLC I will reject is the waterfall model. Despite the fact that it’s easy to use and understand it does not involve the customer hence does not meet customer needs. Once you move to the next stage of development, you cannot revisit the previous step to change anything, and that makes it hard to revise or back track. Surname3 Question Three Network response time is the amount of time needed for a transaction within a system network to be complete. It can include infrastructures such as servers, storage, and networking. The longer the amount of time it takes for one transaction to be complete, the more it costs the business hence losses in the company. Packet drops within a network cause slow response time which lowers the business value through delays. Data center uptime measures the amount of time a business system is running or online. When uptime is high, the response time is low indicating positive feedback from the system and the business value, but if the response time is high then the uptime becomes low, and there are delays in the network. Question Four To handle a colleague who has violated the ethics policy regarding information technology, I will start with reading the handbook so as to determine which violation has been affected. This will also make it easier for him or her to understand the consequences. Depending on whether the violation is severe or mere, I will advise my colleague to voluntarily report to the superiors regarding the violation so as to get ahead of the problem. As I do have an obligation to the management, I will also go along with my colleague explaining the measure I took to prevent any further violations in the system. If it were a case of downloading files without authorization, I would use firewalls to block the employee’s computer and monitor activity on his or her computer. Question Five In troubleshooting an IT problem, I will use a reductionists approach as it breaks down a problem into smaller pieces then starts to handle each piece at a time. For instance in an IT problem that Surname4 involves a network failure, I will start by controlling one element which is connected to the network failure such as the patch cord cables and the router and switches in use. Holistic approach focuses on the bigger pieces of the problem and solves a problem as one big important piece rather a branch with many pieces. A scenario with an IT issue involving servers failing will not be well-handled by holistic approach as one has to determine the server which has failed and check on its physical connection the go to check the software status.
