No strategic relationships with suppliers More than 150 suppliers- organization failed to standardized parts and huge options given to customers. Enormous man-hours spent to maintain these many suppliers No value added service given by suppliers-ZingPc had to pay more than competitors. Inventory Problems Guessing was done by purchase dept. for component requirements Even un-demanded goods were being ordered Result: Bottlenecks & glut of unneeded products that would soon become obsolete Limited storage facility-trailers not being unloaded No accuracy, quality or damage checks Over $130mn inventory but manufacturing processes were constantly slowed down. Supply logistic Center Job: The first effort in streamlining the flow of inbound materials -Receive supplier deliveries, -Update the inventory system -Hold the inventory until request comes from the manufacturing unit SCL Motive: -Improve operational efficeincy and inventory control, -Separate the reciept & storage of components part from the actual computer assembly process, -JIT Result: -It was tested with few selected suppliers -Early results were encouraging. -But the task was not easy and low participation limited the success. Improves the delivery time performance Only a few key components need to be selected by customers Standardization So by this its possible to manufacture pcs in a very short time frame at a reasonable cost.
