Modicon Quantum Processors Unity Operating Systems Compatibility Rules This document concerns Operating Systems compatibility, exceptions and recommendations for native Unity Pro Processors. Please refer to the “What’s New” documentation in Unity Pro for information about compatibility between Operating System versions, application program versions and Unity Pro versions. Definitions Copro = Coprocessor: embedded Ethernet port. PV = Product Version: the PV increases by one digit when a functional change is made in an Operating System, in a Copro or in a Hardware part. SV = Software Version: the version of the Operating System (OS) delivered with the Processor module. Compatibility Rules & Recommendations 1. Processor Operating Systems are upward compatible: updating a processor with a higher Operating System version is always allowed. 2. It is recommended to always upgrade the OS version of a processor with the latest available version. 3. It is recommended that the Copro version is associated with the OS version indicated in the QUANTUM - Launch History tables below (mandatory for HotStandby Systems). 4. It is mandatory to upgrade the Ethernet Coprocessor before the Processor OS. 5. It is not recommended to downgrade the OS of a Processor: Attention Do not download an OS version V2.31 or lower in the processors listed below. Otherwise, it will no longer be possible to change the OS version: Quantum PV 140CPU65150 >= 15 140CPU65150C >= 15 140CPU65160 >= 15 140CPU65160C >= 15 140CPU67160 >= 13 140CPU67160C >= 13 140CPU67160C >= 13 Minimum version required to update Quantum from Concept to Unity: CPUs with PV < 04 include RAM Memory chip whose characteristics are not totally adapted to the Unity program execution. According to the used memory size, these CPUs can work in Unity range but can also present defects in case of Online changes, configuration changes or programs size increase. The consequences that can have are: - No start of the CPU - Some modules are not working in the configuration. Quantum PV 140CPU43412A >=04 140CPU53414A >=04 EIO000000005602 1/4 Quantum HotStandby A Unity Quantum Hot Standby system must have strictly identical configurations for both PLCs: • Same Copro version • Same Operating System (also called EXEC) version. Note: It is possible to upgrade the CPU (OS and Copro) of a Quantum HSBY configuration with a higher version without stopping the system. Please refer to the “Modicon Quantum Hot Standby with Unity Pro" User Manual for complete information and recommendations. Also, please refer to the online documentation in Unity Pro to check the executable compatibility (and the exceptions) of an application program with the Operating System version. Limitations on the online upgrade procedure • For the Operating System, it is not recommended to upgrade an OS Version V2.xx to version V2.40 or V2.41. • For the Coprocessor, it is not recommended to upgrade a Copro version V0.80 to version V2.50. • It is strongly recommended to use the latest versions of OS V2.80 and the Copro V2.80. Recommendations on the OS V2.80 upgrade: The OS version V2.80 brings a better stability of the HSBY system by synchronizing the cycle time of the 2 PLCs. However, for some StandBy application the cycle time may be increased and become greater than the configured period. Due to the new synchronization mechanism, an Overrun is more controlled in V2.80, and therefore this will lead the standBy PLC to go to HALT mode. In this case, it is enough to adjust the StandBy PLC period time to find a normal functioning. Change Configuration On The Fly functionality on Quantum High End and Low End The version V2.80 of Quantum HE and LE CPU contains all features to perform CCOTF functionalities. It requires an UnityPro Application built with UnityPro V5.0 and the binary files of 140CRP 93100/93200 /140CRA93100/93200 in version V2.0, available under “RIO_modules” folder in this eCD. The Quantum OS V2.80 is compatible with the previous versions of the CRP/CRA modules and with UnityPro Application < V5.0. To upgrade CRA / CRP modules please refer to the Quantum_Upgrade_Procedure document available on this eCD. EIO000000005602 2/4 140 NOE 771 11 Upgrade Due to hardware changes (ROHS compliance), two different firmware files are delivered for the 140 NOE 771 11 module, depending on the PV version. Use the appropriate file to upgrade the 140 NOE 771 11 module: NOE Module PV File Name 140 NOE 771 11 >= 10 140NOE77111_V460.BIN 140 NOE 771 11 = 9 RCRAV200.BIN 140 CRA 93100 140 CRA 93200 = 8 RCRPV200.BIN 140 CRP 93100 140 CRP 93200 EIO000000005602 4/4 QUANTUM - Launch History 140CPU67160 (HSBY) 140CPU67160C (HSBY) 140CPU65150 (C) 140CPU65160 (C) 140CPU65260 140CPU65260C 140CPU43412U(C) 140CPU53414U(C) 140CPU31110 140CPU31110C OS Copro HSBY OS Copro OS Copro OS Copro OS OS OS PV01 - - - - - - SV2.41 V2.20 (IE69) SV2.0 SV1.0 SV2.0 PV02 - - - - SV2.40 V2.20 (IE69) SV2.41 V2.20 (IE69) SV2.01 SV2.0 SV2.01 PV03 SV2.0 V2.0 (IE78) - - SV2.41 V2.20 (IE69) SV2.50 V2.50 (IE77) SV2.02 SV2.01 SV2.02 PV04 SV2.01 V2.0 (IE78) - - SV2.41 V2.20 (IE69) SV2.60 V2.60 (IE 78) SV2.10 SV2.02 SV2.10 PV05 SV2.02 V2.0 (IE78) SV1.0 V1.0 (IE46) SV2.41 V2.20 (IE69) SV2.61 V2.60 (IE 78) SV2.10 SV2.10 SV2.10 PV06 SV2.10 V2.0 (IE78) SV2.0 V2.0 (IE56) SV2.50 V2.50 (IE77) SV2.70 V2.70 (IE82) SV2.11 SV2.10 SV2.11 PV07 SV2.11 V0.79 SV2.01 V2.0 (IE56) SV2.60 V2.60 (IE78) SV2.70 V2.70 (IE82) SV2.30 SV2.11 SV2.30 PV08 SV2.11 V0.80 SV2.02 V2.0 (IE56) SV2.61 V2.60 (IE78) SV2.80 V2.80 (IE83) SV2.31 SV2.30 SV2.31 PV09 SV2.11 V0.80 SV2.10 V2.10 (IE62) SV2.70 V2.70 (IE82) - - SV2.40 SV2.31 SV2.40 PV010 SV2.23 V0.80 SV2.11 V2.10 (IE62) SV2.70 V2.70 (IE82) - - SV2.50 SV2.40 SV2.50 PV011 SV2.30 V0.80 SV2.11 V2.10 (IE62) SV2.80 V2.80 (IE83) - - SV2.60 SV2.50 SV2.60 PV012 SV2.31 V0.80 SV2.23 V2.10 (IE62) - - - - SV2.70 SV2.60 SV2.70 PV013 SV2.32 V0.80 SV2.30 V2.20 (IE69) - - - - SV2.70 SV2.70 SV2.70 PV014 SV2.40 V0.80 SV2.31 V2.20 (IE69) - - - - SV2.80 SV2.70 SV2.80 PV015 SV2.41 V0.80 SV2.32 V2.20 (IE69) - - - - - SV2.80 - PV016 SV2.50 V2.50 (IE04) SV2.40 V2.40 (IE72) - - - - - - - PV017 SV2.50 V2.50 (IE04) SV2.41 V2.40 (IE72) - - - - - - - PV018 SV2.50 V2.51 (IE06) SV2.50 V2.50 (IE77) - - - - - - - PV019 SV2.60 V2.60 (IE08) SV2.50 V2.50 (IE77) - - - - - - - PV020 SV2.61 V2.60 (IE08) SV2.60 V2.60 (IE78) - - - - - - - PV021 SV2.70 V2.70 (IE10) SV2.61 V2.60 (IE78) - - - - - - - PV022 SV2.80 V2.80 (IE22) SV2.70 V2.70 (IE82) - - - - - - - PV023 - - SV2.70 V2.70 (IE82) - - - - - - - PV024 SV2.80 V2.80 (IE83) Note: To get the version of OS, Copro or Ethernet modules please refer to the Quantum_Upgrade_Procedure document available on this eCD.
