ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING EXAMINATIONS ORIENTATION (PEE/REE/RME) • A Special Project of the Year 2005 Board of Directors, Officers and Members of IIEEERCSA, Eastern Province, Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia. • IIEE-ERCSA is awarded as 1998, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003 Most Outstanding Chapter Overseas. Copyright, 2003 © Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines Introduction The PEE, REE and RME examination and registration to be conducted here in Saudi Arabia this year 2005 is being spearheaded by IIEE-ERCSA Chapter, Al-Khobar, KSA. IIEE-ERCSA members are encouraged to participate in this very momentous event in the history of the Electrical Engineering in Saudi Arabia. The Examinees • Referring to RA 7920 (The New Electrical Engineering Law) candidates are for: – Registration as Professional Electrical Engineer – Examinations for Registered Electrical Engineer – Examinations for Registered Master Electrician The Qualifications • Referring to RA 7920 (The New Electrical Engineering Law): – Article III, Section 16 - Registration as Professional Electrical Engineer – Article III, Section 17 - Examinations for Registered Electrical Engineer – Article III, Section 18 - Examinations for Registered Master Electrician Examinations for Registered Master Electrician • Qualifications: – He is a citizen of the Philippines; – He is at least 18 years of age; – He is of good reputation and high moral values; – He has not been finally convicted by the court of an offense involving moral turpitude; Examinations for Registered Master Electrician • Qualifications: continuation – He has any of the following backgrounds: * At least 3 years of BSEE with 1-year of actual practice in electrical works; * Has graduated from a 2-year electrician course and 2-year apprenticeship; * Has completed 1-year electrician's course and 3-year apprenticeship; * 4-year high school education and 5-year apprenticeship. Examinations for Registered Electrical Engineer • Qualifications: – He is a citizen of the Philippines; – He is at least 21 years of age; – He is of good reputation and high moral values; – He has not been finally convicted by the court of an offense involving moral turpitude; – He is a holder of the degree of BSEE. Registration as Professional Electrical Engineer • Qualifications: – He is a citizen of the Philippines; – He is of good reputation and high moral values; – He has not been finally convicted by the court of an offense involving moral turpitude; – He is a holder of the degree of BSEE; – He is a REE with valid CoR and PL with 4 years or more of active practice. Registration as Professional Electrical Engineer • Qualifications: continuation, referring to Rule 15, IRR, BEE Res. No. 18, S-1995 – Assistant EE or Associate EE with valid CoR and PL issued under RA 184 and with 4-years or more of active electrical engineering practice after his registration under the foregoing grade, may apply for registration as a PEE only subsequent to his registration/conversion as REE under Sect. 42 (a), Art. V of RA 7920. The Scope of Examination • RA 7920, Article III, Section 19 Scope of Examination - Prerequisite for registration as professional electrical engineer, registered electrical engineer and registered master electrician. Scope of Examination for Registered Master Electrician • Technical subjects: – Ohm’s Law – Electrical machines – Control Equipment – Electrical Components – Maintenance and Repair – Test Equipment – Electrical Engineering law provisions pertaining to RME Scope of Examination for Registered Master Electrician • Philippine Electrical Code, Parts 1 and 2: – General requirements for installation of electrical wiring and equipment; – Approved wiring method; – Types of wiring materials and devices; – Installation of switchboard and panelboards; – Wiring diagrams of different types of motor starters with motor protection; – Drawing symbols and wiring plans; – Other related subjects as may be prescribed by the Board. Scope of Examination for Registered Master Electrician • The number of test questions shall be such that the examinations can be finished in one (1) eight-hour day. • The relative weight shall be 50% for technical and 50% for Philippine Electrical Code. • The passing general average rating shall be 70% with no grade of below 50% in any subject. Scope of Examination for Registered Electrical Engineer The applicant shall pass a written examination on different subjects as follows: (1) Mathematics, such as: algebra, trigonometry, analytic geometry, differential calculus, integral calculus, differential equations, complex numbers, probability and statistics, advanced engineering mathematics including matrices, power series, Fourier analysis, Laplace transforms, and others. The weight is 25%. Scope of Examination for Registered Electrical Engineer The applicant shall pass a written examination on different subjects as follows: (2) Engineering sciences and allied subjects, such as: general chemistry, college physics, computer fundamentals and programming, engineering materials, engineering mechanics, fluid mechanics, strength of materials, thermodynamics, electrical engineering law, engineering economics, engineering management, contracts and specifications, code of professional ethics, Philippine Electrical Code Parts 1 and 2 and others. The weight is 30%. Scope of Examination for Registered Electrical Engineer The applicant shall pass a written examination on different subjects as follows: (3) Electrical engineering professional subjects, such as: electric circuits, electronic theory and circuits, energy conversion, power transmission and distribution, instrumentation and measurement, circuit and line protection, control systems, principles of communication, electrical machines, electrical equipment, components and devices, electric systems, power plant, electronic power equipment, illumination, building wiring and others. The weight is 45%. Scope of Examination for Registered Electrical Engineer • The passing general average shall be 70% with no grade below 50% in any group of subjects taken. • The examination questions shall cover only basic theories and principles and shall exclude questions based on experience and trade practices. • The number of questions shall be such that the examinations can be finished in 3 consecutive eight-hour days. Scope of Examination for Professional Electrical Engineer For the purpose of confirming the service record and clarifying the technical report submitted by the applicant as a Professional Electrical Engineer, an oral examination or interview shall be conducted by the BEE on the documents submitted as follows: (1) Certified experience record from the date applicant took oath as REE indicating the inclusive dates, companies worked for, description of specific responsibilities, significant accomplishments as well as the name and position of immediate supervisors. Scope of Examination for Professional Electrical Engineer (2) Technical paper covering an evaluation, an analysis, a study or a critical discussion of an electrical engineering project or subject, on one or several technical aspects such as: design, construction, installation, commissioning, testing, operation, maintenance, repair, research and the like. The technical paper shall be supported by engineering principles or data. Published or unpublished scientific paper or treatise on electrical engineering theories and applications may be considered as complying with the requirement. Scope of Examination for Professional Electrical Engineer (3) Three (3) certifications signed by 3 PEE’s to the effect that the experience record submitted by the applicant is factual and that the technical paper submitted was actually prepared by the applicant. The Requirements • Referring to IRR, BEE Res. No. 18, Series of 1995 – Article III, Rule 14, 15 - Registration as Professional Electrical Engineer – Article III, Rule 16 - Examinations for Registered Electrical Engineer – Article III, Rule 17 - Examinations for Registered Master Electrician Requirements for Examination as RME (IRR, Rule 17) • Applicant to submit the following: – PRC Application Form (PRC Form 101) – Permanent Registration Record Card (PRC Form 203) – Photocopy Philippine Passport (Authenticated by Chapter President) – Birth Certificate – Transcript of Records – Certificate or affidavit on specific record, PRC Form 104 (Rev. August 1995) Requirements for Examination as REE (IRR, Rule 16) • Applicant to submit the following: – PRC Application Form (PRC Form 101) – Permanent Registration Record Card (PRC Form 203) – Photocopy Philippine Passport (Authenticated by Chapter President) – Birth Certificate – Transcript of Records Requirements for Registration as PEE (IRR, Rule 14) • Applicant to submit the following: – PRC Application Form (PRC Form 101) – Permanent Registration Record Card (PRC Form 203) – Photocopy Philippine Passport (Authenticated by Chapter President) – Birth Certificate – NBI Clearance or Certificate of Good Moral Character from Employer Requirements for Registration as PEE (IRR, Rule 14) • Applicant to submit the following: continuation – Valid Certificate of Registration and valid Professional License as a Registered Electrical Engineer – Certificate of Experience PRC Form 104 (Revised August 1995). – Technical Report (5) copies. – Affidavits signed by 3 PEE’s. – Brief description of the most outstanding achievement / contribution in the field of EE. The Proposed Title and Outline • Prior to writing the report, PEE applicant should submit the proposed title and outline to the BOARD for approval as to: – Subject Matter – Organization – Technical Content – Presentation PEE Examinee’s Initial Submittal for BEE’s Approval • Submission includes as follows (5 Sets): – Proposed Title Page – Letter of Transmittal – Proposed Title and Proposed Outline – Curriculum Vitae The End Thank You !!!!!!
