Selected Examples GSFC Flight Dynamics Support Services (FDSS)—Satellite Operations and Analysis Customer: NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) Description: a.i. solutions performs mission concept studies; trade space analyses, pre-mission requirements analysis/planning; software/ground system development, test and evaluation; sustaining and systems engineering for NASA GSFC-based missions. We also manage and maintain the Flight Dynamics Facility (FDF) – a multi-contractor, multi-mission NASA facility which provides routine (i.e. daily, weekly) and critical (24/7) operations support to ELV and flight/test missions, manned spaceflight, and spacecraft payload missions. This web-based system is available to all approved personnel, from any location, and allows users to quickly and easily submit and retrieve data and information relevant to the ERP. ERBIS enables the creation of metrics that facilitate trending and tracking of issues used in risk evaluation. ERBIS is searchable by launch vehicle, mission, part number, system or vendor. ERBIS provides an efficient way for NASA to enforce the ERP and serves as the official knowledgebase for all ELV vehicle analysis, vehicle certification and lessons learned. 18 19. Selected Examples Collision Assessment and Risk Analysis – NASA Conjunction Assessment System (CAS) Customer: NASA GSFC Description: a.i. solutions built an automated FreeFlyer-based Conjunction Assessment System (CAS) that provides daily collision risk analysis, assessment and operations for nearly 100 DoD, NASA, NOAA and commercial satellite programs spanning low earth orbit to geosynchronous. Operational collision risk assessment consists of receiving daily close approach predictions from the Air Force, quantifying the collision risk, and developing risk mitigation strategies as necessary, such as planning avoidance maneuvers to avoid debris and other spacecraft.Global Positioning System (GPS) Launch and Early Orbit, Anomaly Resolution, and Disposal Operations (LADO) Customer: USAF Description: a.i. solutions designed and developed the FreeFlyer-based Mission Planning (MP) element for the new GPS LADO ground system which replaced the legacy mainframe GPS Command-and-Control System (CCS). The new system allows integrated telemetry, command and control, mission planning and mission operations support for the entire GPS constellation of satellites, from spacecraft separation through end of life disposal, to be consolidated under the authority of the Air Force 2nd Space Operations Squadron (2SOPS) at Schriever Air Force Base. The FreeFlyer subsystem provides satellite orbit and attitude determination, orbit and attitude maneuver planning, maneuver command generation, planning products generation, and advanced database capabilities, supporting all current GPS satellites and an unlimited number of future GPS satellites.Landsat Data Continuity Mission (LDCM) Customer: NASA/USGS Description: a.i. solutions is using FreeFlyer to develop the flight dynamics component of the LDCM ground system with a major theme of automation. FreeFlyer is used to interface with an SOA-like autonomous architecture, and is used to autonomously create orbit event products, plan maneuvers, and perform orbit and attitude determination.22 23.
