ABSTRAK Penelitian ini berjudul Errors in Pronouncing English Homographs Made by D3 English Students, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Gadjah Mada University. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa faktor-faktor kesalahan dalam melafalkan homograf bahasa Inggris. Homograf yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 20 pasang. Sebanyak 30 responden dari jurusan D3 Bahasa Inggris angkatan 2006 Fakultas Ilmu Budaya Universitas Gadjah Mada dijadikan sebagai sampel penelitian. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode rekam dan studi pustaka. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat tiga factor kesalahan dalam melafalkan homograf yaitu ketidaksadaran responden akan adanya homograf yang dibaca, ketidaktahuan responden akan homograf itu sendiri, serta cara bicara yang serampangan. Selain itu dari hasil persentasi diketahui bahwa 40,58 % atau sebanyak 12 responden melafalkan homograf dengan benar dan 59,42 % atau 18 responden melafalkan homograf dengan salah. Kata Kunci: Homograf, Faktor-Faktor Kesalahan ABSTRACT This research studies Errors in Pronouncing English Homographs Made by D3 English Students, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Gadjah Mada University. It is aimed to find error factors in pronouncing English homographs. To analyze the error factors, the writer uses 20 pairs of homographs spoken by English students of Diploma 3 degree year 2006, Faculty of Cultural Sciences GMU. The used methods are recording method and library research. The result of this research indicates that there are three error factors in pronouncing English homographs, which are unawareness with the homographs, unfamiliarity with the homographs and due to a slipshod speech. Based on the percentage of accuracy and inaccuracy of the homographs, it is shown that 12 respondents or 40,58 % pronounce the homographs correctly and the rest, 18 respondents or 59,42 % pronounce the homographs incorrectly.
