Description

This aquifer is mainly artesian; the study included vertical electrical soundings, gamma log in water wells, long term pumping tests, sampling and physical-chemical water analysis. Estimation of recharge, hydrogeochemical analysis and a numerical model, which was calibrated by obtaining the average recharge, the mean potentiometric levels in existing wells and reserve evaluation. Also various simulation scenarios were done for the sustainable use of the aquifer through existing and future wells. It was concluded that the aquifer is a multilayered confined system, with thicknesses exceeding 200 m. The volumen water in storage is estimated at 947 million m3 for a saturated thickness of 200 m. The estimated total recharge the modeled area is 380.4 l/s, and the sustainable yield for 25 years was estimated in 480.4 l/s using 20% of storage.
