Description

1. EnviroFlu Station SMS System for Hydrocarbons monitoring composed of a TriOS EnviroFlu voltage output sensor and a Campbell Scientific CR800 data logger configured for SMS data transmission User guide © 2008 Ecosearch srl Introduction System Description The system is based on a Campbell Scientific CR800 series data logger A GSM modem is provided to allow data transmission by SMS service. The data logger comes with a pre-established configuration that can be modified by the user. Both setting procedures and data retrieval can be executed by direct connection or GSM/GPRS modem. A specific setting allows to modify some of the parameters into the data logger Contents This document gives technical information on the installation and operating instructions of the system It DOESN’T replace the user manual of the single components, that are provided with the instrumentation and that constitute technical reference for routine operations and maintenance. Warranty The system is guaranteed as defective-free in hardware and software. The warranty expires after 12 months from delivery (36 months for data-loggers). The products that will result in failures in such period will be replaced or repaired. Transport will be charged to the user. These conditions will not apply if: • the equipment will be modified or altered without written permission released by Ecosearch srl; 2. • the equipment is damaged by erroneous or improper use, environmental shocks, ect Architecture Acquisition system Waterproof box The adoption of a waterproof sealed enclosure is suggested. Reference is ENC Campbell Scientific series (Protection class IP67) Datalogger Model: Campbell Scientific CR800. Power supply The station requires a stabilized power supply between 9.6 and 16V (minimum current drawn: 1A). Sensors power supply must be provided by the user Data Transmission Direct connection to PC The communication can be established by CS I/O port with optoisolated adaptor SC32B which allows an RS232 connection speed up to 115 Kbit/s. The communication protocol adopted is the PakBus; every station is identified by its own address, that is specified in the built-in board. Data Transmission via GSM A telecommunication module based on a GSM modem allows the remote connection to data-logger (software LoggerNet or PC400 are required), in transparent mode with respect the direct communication. The same GSM modem is exploited to send data by SMS (Short Message Service). 3. Please refer to the user manual of the instruments for technical features and performances. Serial numbers are reported in the technical forms Sensors EnviroFlu Hydrocarbon gauge The system has been configured to read in differential mode the voltage output of an EnviroFlu Hydrocarbon gauge (TriOS) connected to input channel 1. The range is automatically detected (autorange). The upper limit is +5V. The hardware implementation of the sensor are under the responsibility of the user. Connections The 12Vdc power of both GSM and EnviroFlu_HC sensor is triggered by control port 1. Data acquisition system Waterproof enclosure It is strongly suggested to house the data-logger, the GSM modem, the electronic and the power supply system inside a waterproof enclosure. The GSM phone comes with a vehicular antenna that can be installed in the upper side of the enclosure. A steel platform is provided (to be mounted inside the enclosure) for the antenna positioning on a non-conductive material (plastic, ect) Running the system To start the system just supply the power at the 12V connector on the data-logger. The CR800 will load the active program and start data acquiring Configuration User’s configuration The program loaded into the system has the following features: • Every 1 minute, executes the main routine (self diagnostics, battery voltage..) • Every 15 minutes, triggers GSM modem and EnviroFlu power supply, reads the sensor output voltage, sends SMS (Date and Time, EnviroFlu sample, battery voltage), stores data in the internal memory (data table; Time, EnviroFlu sample, diagnostics SMS); • Every 24 hours, stores in a diagnostics table the min, MAX, Avg values of the following parameters: data logger internal temperature, battery voltage, with time reference. These values are stored in the data logger internal memory for malfunction analysis CRBasic Editor The acquisition program has been developed by CRBasic software Editor, included in LoggerNet and PC400 packages of Campbell Scientific (not included). The same software should be used to make modifications to the program. 5. LoggerNet and PC400 allow the remote connection to the station by way of GSM modem, in transparent mode, when the system is not busy (i.e. while sending an SMS) PC200W For direct connection it is still possible to employ the free of charge PC200W software (download available at Campbell Scientific Internet site. Please refer to the user manual of the instruments for technical features and performances. Programming Editing of configuration parameters Since the system will be exploited for both normal monitoring or during alert phases, some parameters have been configured as variables to allow the user to introduce simple modifications without a complete reconfiguration of the system. Such changes can be made also by the keybord terminal Campbell scientific 1000KD (not included). The instructions here reported refer to PC200W software, which includes a terminal emulator. A correct configuration and a basic knowledge of the software is required (please refer to the manual and to the online software help). From the PC200W main window select Tools menu -> Terminal emulator. Select the data-logger and the serial port speed then press the key Open Terminal. Press the enter key until the data-logger prompt is showed (in this case: CR800>). Press C+<enter> to access the constant table. The data logger shows the list of constants you can edit, requiring to confirm after each edit. . Attention: after modifying the constants you must recompile the built-in program, so data tables could be erased. We suggest to download the stored data prior to make any program configuration editing. The terminal allows to access more data-logger functions. Please refer to the online menu (command: H<Enter>) or to the datalogger manual. 6.
